Standout Businesses
At Flavor Burst, we know soft serve isn’t just a summer treat; it’s a story. All across the U.S., local ice cream shops are spinning our signature stripes into something magical for their communities. Over the past year, we’ve had the joy of hearing from some truly standout businesses that are making Flavor Burst their own, and the results are too good not to share.
From classic diners to themed scoop shops and mobile trucks, these Flavor Burst success stories show how a splash of flavor and a lot of heart can boost business and bring smiles to folks of all ages.
1. Kelly Q’s & Whipper’s Dairy – Walton, KY
Walton’s favorite hometown eatery, Kelly Q’s & Whipper’s Dairy, has been a local staple since 1966. When they added Flavor Burst to the menu six years ago, it meant even more favorites to be loved as sales skyrocketed. Their crowd pleasers are Chocolate and Orange (a flavor combo dreams are made of), but owner-approved Banana is a must-try. If you’re near northern Kentucky, do yourself a favor and swing by for a bite and a swirl.
2. The King Cone – Soldotna, AK
Way out in Soldotna, Alaska, The King Cone reigns supreme. Flavor Burst has been on the menu for over 15 years, and the current owner picked up right where things left off, keeping the fan-favorite flavors flowing. Their top seller is Pink Cotton Candy (hello, nostalgia!), while the owner’s go-to is rich, dreamy Butter Pecan. Bonus: they also serve Dole Whip and other fun frozen treats, so this is one royal stop worth making.
3. Kelly’s Cone Connection – Hamden, CT
What started in 1955 as a humble hot dog stand has grown into a third-generation ice cream institution. Kelly’s Cone Connection in Hamden, Connecticut has been scooping homemade treats and soft serve for decades, and Flavor Burst has been part of their lineup for over 30 years! Blue Goo takes the crown for customer favorite, while the owner swears by Butterscotch. Enjoy a classic dog, a striped cone, and taste a bite of soft serve history.
4. Al’s Gelato Ice Cream – Orlando, FL
If you’re in the Orlando area and hear the jingle of an ice cream truck, it might just be Al’s Gelato Ice Cream. Launched by Alvaro Alves-Lazaro in 2018, this mobile dessert dream machine dishes out everything from creamy gelato to striped Flavor Burst cones. Since adding Flavor Burst to the mix, customer faves include Strawberry, Pineapple, Chocolate, and Butter Pecan, while Alvaro personally goes for the Mocha Cappuccino. From weddings to birthdays to graduations, Al’s truck is the cherry on top.
5. Goodfellas Ice Cream Shoppe – Hazle Township, PA
Part mob movie museum, part ice cream paradise, Goodfellas Ice Cream Shoppe is one of the most unique Flavor Burst spots out there. Shop owner Joe has been working with Flavor Burst since the late 90s and introduced our flavoring system to this Hazle Township hangout in 2011. Their most requested flavor is the ever-popular Blue Goo, though Joe has a soft spot for Butter Pecan. With wall-to-wall movie memorabilia and a menu full of fun, this shop is an offer you can’t refuse.
